CLIFFORD –  Police are asking for help to identify and capture two “persons of interest” in a theft investigation.

On Aug. 6 at about 9:45pm a white sprinter van and a white cube van were observed entering a property on Elora Street North in Clifford.

“Three unknown persons proceeded to load items into the vehicles and then left the area,” stated a press release from the Wellington County OPP.

“It was determined that approximately $234,000 worth of copper wire had been stolen.”

Vehicles stolen, recovered

FERGUS – Police officials say a truck and SUV were stolen and later recovered close by – and they believe other vehicles in the north end of Fergus may have been entered overnight by would-be thieves.

Wellington County OPP received two reports about stolen vehicles on the morning of Oct. 10.

“A pickup truck was stolen from a residence on Harper Crescent and recovered on Strathallan Street and [an SUV] was stolen from a residence on Gzowski and recovered on St. Andrew Street East,” states an OPP press release issued on Oct. 10.

“Investigators believe other vehicles may have been entered in that area of Fergus and are asking anyone who suspects their vehicle was entered or has information regarding this incident to call [police].”

Break-in

ERIN – On Oct. 5 at about 7am, Wellington County OPP responded to an alarm at a business on Dundas Street in the village of Erin.

Police say surveillance captured two people “entering the business and causing damages.” The OPP is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying those caught on surveillance.

Police have released video footage depicting what appears to be a man and a woman rummaging through the contents of a building, but both are wearing masks.

OPP officials did not provide the name of the business.
