HARRISTON – An Orangeville man faces a drinking and driving charge after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle here in November.
Wellington County OPP officials say a “clerical error” is to blame for the one-month delay in announcing the charge.
In a press release issued on Jan. 4, police say that on Nov. 30 at about 5:30pm, emergency crews responded to a report that a pedestrian was stuck by a car on Arthur Street West at Elora Street North in Harriston.
Police say a male driving a silver sedan collided with a female crossing the street. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers spoke to the male driver and conducted a roadside screening device test.
Sean Nicholas Keane, 55, of Orangeville, was charged with care and control of a vehicle while having a blood alcohol level over 80mg. He was to appear in Guelph court on Jan. 8.
His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
