Paper Hammers helps Habitat for Humanity

Last month Habitat for Humanity Wellington County received a donation of $14,662 from the Home Depot Guelph on Woodlawn Road West.

It comes as part of the Buy a Hammer, Build Our Community campaign.

The Home Depot Guelph store associates sold “paper hammers” to customers for a two dollar donation.

The Home Depot Canada Foundation is also a partner in Habitat for Humanity Canada’s 360 Built Smart Partnership initiative that was formed in 2010 as part of their shared commitment to addressing the affordable housing crisis in Canada.

Habitat has also received funding through that initiative that will allow it to receive applications from a more diverse cross section of applicants in 2012.

The Home Depot Guelph associates will also be volunteering at the current HFHWC home project at 28 Huron Street in Guelph.

During the first week of December, Team Depot contributed three days of construction to the nearly half-built semi-detached homes.
