Ontario extends emergency orders to June 9

TORONTO — The Ontario government has again extended the length of the current emergency orders.

On Wednesday (May 27) morning, Premier Doug Ford announced that current emergency orders, including the closure of outdoor playgrounds and swimming pools, and the prohibition of social gatherings of more than five people, have been extended to June 9.

“We are extending these emergency orders to protect the health and safety of all individuals and families as we begin to gradually and safely reopen our province,” said Ford.

Ford further encouraged all Ontarians to continue following public health guidelines like practising physical distancing, wearing a mask and regularly washing hands.

“If you think you have COVID-19 or may have been exposed to the virus, go to an assessment centre and get tested. Please stay safe,” added Ford.

A full list of orders that have been extended can be found on province’s website.

These orders were initially issued on March 17 when the COVID-19 pandemic began.

They have been extended several times, most recently on May 12 when they were extended to June 2.
