Wheeler (Awrey), Mabel Lavina (nee McDonald); Of Guelph and Erin Township, passed away at Eden House Care Facility on February 6, 2011, two days prior to her 91st birthday. Beloved wife of the late Roy Wheeler (2003) and the late Wilfred Awrey (1988). She was born February 8, 1920 in West Garafraxa Township. Loving Mother of Shirley (Ted) Freeman, Elgin (Lois) Awrey and Ross (Leona) Awrey. Grandmother of Lyle (Elspeth) Freeman, Gordon (late Lorinda) Freeman, Louise (Paul) Schebesch, Donald (Christina) Awrey, Lisa Otterman, David (Joan) Awrey, Allan (Jennifer) Awrey, Glenn (Karen) Awrey, and Eric (Linda) Awrey. Great-Grandmother of twenty-one. Step-Mother of Howard (Donna) Wheeler, Doris (the late Jim) Swackhamer, Marion (Ross) Swackhamer, Elgin (Marlene) Wheeler, Ivan (Cindy) Wheeler, Dennis (Lois) Wheeler and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survived by sisters, Della Spicer and Jean Roberge and brothers, Leslie (Marilyn) and Clifford (Shirley) McDonald. Predeceased by her parents, Fred and Mabel McDonald, brothers, Ivan and Earl McDonald and two great-grandsons, Andrew and Gavin Freeman. Friends were received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Thursday, February 10, 2011. Funeral service was held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 1:30pm. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph. Remembrances to Trinity United Church, 400 Stevenson St. N., Guelph, N1E 5C3 or Hillsburgh Baptist Church, 21 Trafalgar Road, Hillsburgh, N0B 1Z0. A tree will be planted in memory of M. Lavina Wheeler in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. A Dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 2:30pm.
