TENNANT, John Lewis

July 4, 1942 - November 17, 2019

John Lewis Tennant passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma cancer, in his 78th year. Beloved husband of Ethel Tennant for 57 years. Dear father of John and Bernie (Katherine) and the proud grandpa to his four granddaughters, Emily, Evelyn, Erin and Claire. Much loved brother of Barb Dyce (Bill) of Arthur. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents John Tennant and Dorothy Townsend, brother Tom Tennant (Sharon). John and his siblings grew up on the family farm in Grand Valley, and they remained close throughout their lives. He enjoyed an illustrious 29 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. He served with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals and the Royal Canadian Electrical and mechanical Engineers, including overseas deployments with the United Nations Emergency Force UNEF 1 (1963 – 64) and UNEF 11 (1978). Upon his retirement from the Canadian Armed Forces he thoroughly enjoyed his employment with the Canadian Blood Services in Ottawa. The family is grateful for the exceptional support provided by the entire team at the Madonna Community Care Home in Ottawa. To honour Johns wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of Johns life will take place at a future date.
