Skeoch, Vern; It is with great sadness that the family of John Vern Skeoch announces his unexpected passing on Thursday, October 7th, 2010 at the age of 64, while traveling in Europe. Beloved husband of Carol Ann Skeoch (Collins). Devoted father of Lisa Marie Gillespie and her husband Chris, Brenda Diane Pettifer and her husband Tony and James Vern Skeoch and his wife Amy. Grandfather of Claire and Ethan; Erin, Alli and Paige; Brody and Lauren, who were the light of his life. Son of Hubert James and brother of James Lloyd Skeoch and his wife Lynda. Predeceased by his dearly loved mother Margaret Ruth Skeoch. Survived by many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and in-laws. He will be missed by many loving friends and former students. Vern was an example to us all of how to live life to the fullest. Although he left this earth far too soon, he touched all who knew him with his generosity, quick wit, loyalty, determination and sense of adventure. He was one of a kind and will be in our hearts forever. Family will receive friends at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South in Fergus, on Thursday, October 14th , 2010 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 15th, 2010 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 325 St. George St W, Fergus at 11am. Because of Vern’s love of children and sports, the family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be directed to Right to Play Canada or World Vision Canada.
