SCHROEDER, Harold Ernest

October 29, 1932 - February 28, 2024

On February 28, 2024, Harold Ernest Schroeder of St. George, Ontario, took his last breath at home surrounded by those he loved, and joined his beloved wife, Adrienne (predeceased September 22, 2020) in their heavenly home. Harold was born October 29, 1932 in Golden Lake, Ontario. Dear Son of Ernest and Myrtle Schroeder (both predeceased). Respected and Cherished Father to Rick Schroeder (Linda) of Fergus, Ontario, Kimberly Bimm (Richard) of Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, Brad Schroeder (Heather) of St. George, Ontario, and Darin Schroeder (Jaci) of Austin, Texas. Loving Grandfather to 14, and Great Grandfather to 14. Dear brother to loving siblings, Russel Schroeder (Norma), Mona Zadow (Milton, predeceased), Gladys Priebe (Wayne, predeceased) and predeceased brothers, Cyril, Rudvin, Stanley, Ranus and Milton. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Harold moved away from his homestead and farming life at the early age of 17 to join his older brother Cyril, in Sudbury, Ontario, where he worked for INCO. In 1956, he proudly became a Firefighter and rose to Captain for the City of Sudbury Fire Department. Harold retired from that position in 1990. Harold always said he was born in the wrong era, as he loved learning as much as he could about a variety of subjects such as: technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, and social media. Harold had a knack for excelling at whatever he put his mind to. He loved music, playing his guitar and other string instruments, he was exceptional at wood carving, winning many ribbons and accolades. Above all he loved his Family. Harold touched the lives of many people in different ways, he was a huge influence, a mentor, a teacher, a generous and giving man who will be forever missed by many. He was the bedrock of our Family. Visitation will be Mar 10th, from 11 to 1pm, following with a Funeral Service at 1pm at Graham A Giddy Funeral home, Fergus Chapel, 280 St. David St S, Fergus. Reception to follow immediately after the service at the Royal Canadian Legion, 500 Blair St., Fergus where Lunch and refreshments will be offered.
