REX, Jacqueline (nee Button)

Of R.R. # 1 Moorefield passed away suddenly at home on Friday, January 5, 2024 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Peter Charles Rex (2015) for 49 years. Loving mother of Troy (Lisa) of Arthur, Sean (Denise) of Alma, Tim Rex (Tammy Banks) of Brampton and Todd (Paula) of Breslau. Cherished grandmother of Danielle (Scott), Kacie, Tanner, Zachary (Ada), Courtney, Connor, Kristi (Aaron), Tyler, Brayden, Daniel and Josh (Maddie). Great-grandmother to Eliana, Sawyer and Evelyn. Sister of Nancy Seeley and Len (Helen) Button. Sister-in-law of George Clark and Irene Button. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Anne Button, step-father Robert Stewart, siblings Barb Clark, Peter Button and brother-in-law Paul Seeley. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and friends. Jackie was called home 20 years to the day of her cherished Mother’s passing. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, she was raised in Aldershot and Morriston, before eventually moving to Hamilton. She would later marry Peter at the age of 23, and in 1977 they moved to Sideroad 21 near Arthur to raise their family. For a short period, Jackie worked at a factory in Guelph as well as Stillmeadow Farms in Elora. Eventually, she found great pleasure babysitting for family, friends and neighbours, treating them like her own, while raising her own four boys. With their children now being adults, Jackie and Pete moved to the Conestoga Estates community in 1993. Here, they would make many new friends through planned events at the club and getting to know their neighbours. She remained very close with her four siblings by spending weekends and holidays getting together for card nights, family reunions and vacation spots like St Pete’s in Florida and Port Dover, Ontario. During retirement, family remained most important to Jackie and she looked forward to visits from her extended family, grandchildren and friends. She was dedicated to making herself available whenever they needed her, and would always make sure she was present for important events. She got the most out of life’s simple pleasures through a great laugh, a country drive, playing cards and dice. Jackie was passionate about walking in the snowfall, soaking up the sunshine, watching the birds and never missing a Blue Jays or Maple Leafs game. Knitting and baking were some of her favourite pass-times. Even if she was not the one doing the baking, she was always there to give instruction. Her knitted slippers were a staple in her family’s households and would request a pair to wear whenever she visited. Jackie will be greatly missed and forever remembered. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at the Alma Community Centre, 51 Simpson St. East, Alma, Ontario from 1:00 to 4:00pm with words of remembrance at 2:30pm. In Lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Arthur.
