PETTY, Kenneth Wayne

passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 28, 2020 with the love of his family surrounding him. Loving and cherished husband of Carol (nee Hansen). Proud and dedicated father of Colleen (Dan) Melanson, Kent (Dianna) Petty and Krista (Brian) Denny. Devoted grandfather of Ryan, Brett, Kurtis Melanson, Hayden and Grace Denny, Abigail, Evelyn, Vivian Petty, and step-grandchildren Gabby, Saige and Seth Rule. Predeceased by daughter Kimberly Petty and grandson Andrew Denny. Ken was a lifelong resident of Rockwood, Ontario, where he apprenticed at Petty’s Garage under his father, Garnet Petty. In later years, he and his brother (Charles) took over this family business and ran it successfully until 2000. After this sale, Ken continued to work on a part-time basis for the new owner. His love of automotives also included his personal collection of classic and antique cars. Ken was an avid fisherman and felt very fortunate to have been able to create amazing memories with both family and friends while spending time sitting in a boat. He was also a talented woodworker and spent many hours in his shop, working on many new and challenging projects. For many years, Ken was a dedicated member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Acton, where he was an Elder of the Kirk Session, lent his support through friendships, served on committees, worked at various fundraisers, and offered his handiwork for many projects throughout the church itself. Over the years, Ken’s home in Rockwood was a source of great pride, and he took much time tending to both the inside and outside care of this loving home. Ken could always find humour in any situation, and this humour did not waver. He was a man of honour, humble in life, and a gentleman. A private family service was held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Knox Presbyterian Church, Acton, with interment following at Rockwood Cemetery.
