Passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2023, with family by her side. Loving wife of the late Art Mainland (2014). Karen is survived by her children; Christopher and Christine Bell, Jeff Mainland, and her daughter in law Jackie Squance, her siblings and in-laws; Robert and Suzanne Chamberlain, Robin and Roy Diebold, Ralph and Jean Rooney, and Bob Gammie. Predeceased by her son, Trevor Squance (2003) and her sister, Candace Gammie (2013). Loving grandma to Drew and Claire Bell, Sam and Taren Squance, and Sam and Jaimie Chad. Great grandma to Wyatt Chad. Karen will be dearly missed by her niece and nephew, Jodi Rathwell and Brian Gammie, who held a very special place in her heart, as well as additional nieces, nephews and family members. Visitation was held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus from 4-7pm. A funeral service took place at the funeral home on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11am. Following the service, guests were invited upstairs to the Wellington Room for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Elevator access was available. Burial took place at the Elora Municipal Cemetery at 1:30pm, following the reception. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Karen may be made to the Elora Legion Branch #229, or to the Groves Memorial Hospital’s Oncology Unit, and are greatly appreciated by her family.
