MacKenzie, Grant;  It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Grant Ross MacKenzie at Palmerston & District Hospital on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in his 88th year. Grant was a life-long resident of Harriston, a veteran of the R.C.A.F. during WWII, a member of  Harriston Legion #296 and a respected historian. Beloved husband of Shirley MacKenzie. Father of Mark MacKenzie and his partner Candace Owens, and Kim MacKenzie and his wife Cheryl, all of R.R.#3, Clifford, and Mary Ellen McCoag and her husband Neil of Port Rowan. Remembered by his grandchildren Rob and Lizzie MacKenzie of Toronto, Shayne and Stacey MacKenzie of Kitchener, Lisa and Paul McGarroch of Innisfil, Leigh MacKenzie of St. Catharines, Erin and Mike Buzsik of Simcoe, Drew McCoag of Guelph, Meghan McCoag of Brantford, and Luke McCoag of Newmarket and by his great-grandchildren Emma, Ava, Kayleigh, Ashten and Madison. Grant was predeceased by his son Wayne, by his brothers Gordon, Earl, Kenneth and Donald, and by his parents Henry ‘Bob’ MacKenzie and Mary Ann Loucks. Grant’s family received friends at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service was held from Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, Harriston on Saturday, April 17 at 11am with Rev. Dennis Wright officiating. Interment in Harriston Cemetery. A Royal Canadian Legion memorial service was held on Thursday evening at 7:30pm and a Harriston Masonic Lodge memorial service was held on Friday evening at 6:30pm. Memorial donations to Harriston Community Historical Committee, Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, Palmerston & District Hospital or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
