Lade, Lloyd Edward

Lade, Lloyd Edward; 1920-2011 – Passed away quietly on September 18 at the Village of Riverside Glen, Guelph, his home for the last 7 years. Sadly missed by his beloved wife of 70 years, Marion Irene Lade, his daughter Nancy Marie Hogg and his grandchildren, Mitchell Hogg and his wife Sarah Gray and Rebecca Hogg and her husband Matthew Horner. Lloyd also was extremely proud of his great grandchildren, Jack, Maddy and Sam. Born in Hamilton Ontario, Lloyd was part of a large family. He is fondly remembered by his brother Bill (Zita) and sisters Ruth, Elsie (Ron) and Thelma (Jack) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Ken, Earl, Mark and Luther. Lloyd served in the Royal Canadian Artillery from 1940 to 1945 and was part of the force that landed at Juno Beach on D-Day. He returned to civilian life in Hamilton first as an electrician and then as a teacher at Central, Hillpark and Westmount Secondary Schools. He enjoyed a long retirement and was still curling and golfing well into his 80’s. Lloyd and Marion travelled widely and for several years spent their winters in Florida. He handled old age and failing health with courage. His first concern was always for his dear wife Marion. A private, family service of remembrance took place on September 24 at the Village of Riverside Glen. A scholarship in Lloyd’s name has been established through the Upper Grand Learning Foundation. Donations may be made to Upper Grand Learning Foundation through the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 519-822-0051 or www.wallcustance.com.
