Gates-Smith, Annie Rhodell;  Passed away at the Hospice Wellington Residence, Guelph on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. Annie (Snow) Gates-Smith at the age of 85 years.  Beloved wife of the late Bert Smith and her first husband Archie Gates (1998). Loving  mother of Heather Wood (Barry) of Rockwood, Wayne Gates (Eke), John Gates all of Guelph, Ken Gates (Nan) of Rockwood, Marian Scheerer (Dennis) of Kitchener, Barb Ware (Jim), Orval Gates (Kathy), all of Rockwood, Lydia Sullivan of Elora and Bev Vezina (Colin) of Caledon.  Dear grandmother of 18 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Annie will be sadly missed by her brother C.E. “Bud” Snow (Evelyn) of Guelph; her sister-in-law, Betty Snow of Eden Mills; daughter-in-law Nancy and son-in-law Tim and the Smith family. Predeceased by her sister Lydia Snow and her brothers Elwood and Sam. Annie loved her crafts and cooking. She was an active member of the Evergreen Centre, Horticultural Society, Greenock and Nassagaweya Women’s Institutes. Friends called for memorial visitation at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph (from 2-4 & 7-9pm Friday).  Memorial service was held at Paisley Memorial United Church, Margaret & Howitt Streets, Guelph on Saturday, October 16 at 11am with The Rev. Brenda Woodall officiating. Cremation with inurnment at St. John’s Nassagaweya Anglican Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Paisley Memorial United Church, Hospice Wellington or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
