Featherby, Joan Lilian; Suddenly at her home in Belwood on Thursday, April 14, 2011, Joan Lilian Featherby at the well-lived age of 91. Predeceased by her adoring husband of almost 60 years, Sydney. Joan was born in Dartford, Kent, lived through the London Blitz and inadvertently witnessed the Battle of Britain while on a picnic with the man who would later be her husband. Proud mother of Martyn John (Sandy), Barbara Joan (Don), Celia Anne (Bohdan) and Robert Frederick (Shera). Adoring and attentive grandmother to Celeste Anne, Jacquelaine Suzanne, Ivan Frederick, Mercedes Grace, Stefan Robert, Merle Hilde, Daniel Suleman, Larissa Sydney and great-grandmother to Katrina Suzanne. A killer bridge player, voracious reader and extraordinary gardener, Joan enjoyed her life to the fullest. She had a gift for making quality friends, who were invited to celebrate her at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. S. Fergus, ON. Visitation took place on Monday, April 18th, 2011, 11-1pm, followed by a celebration of Joan’s life at 1pm.
