It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Americo Vicente Arruda, at the age of 72 years of age, on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus, Ontario. Dad fought a courageous battle with the rare cancer that took him from his loving family in a matter of seven weeks. He passed onto his next adventure wearing a secretive smile while surrounded by Pat (Logan), his loving wife of 46 years, his eldest daughter Maria and her husband Stephan Miller, his youngest daughter Michelle, and his nephew Jose Arruda. Americo was bigger than life to the people he loved and will not be forgotten. He will be greatly missed by his large family, the friends who loved him and the many people he inspired to do better and to live with honour. Friends were received at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, at 280 St. David Street South, Fergus, on Thursday, August 19th from 5-8pm. Memorial Service and reception were on Friday, August 20th, at 11am, in the funeral home chapel. Burial followed in Brandon Cemetery, Belgrave, Ontario (10km west of Wingham).
