Nylons sing for CRC on Acton stage

The Canadian a cappella group, the Nylons is coming to the Acton Town Hall Centre on Oct. 6 with Rockwood singer and songwriter James Gordon acting as master of ceremonies.

The evening gala will support the Concerned Residents Coalition (CRC).

The doors open at 6pm for the welcoming reception and the concert will begin at 7pm.

Chefs Paul Mattina and Lars Skjold-Pettersen will provide gala fare served throughout the evening.

Heritage Acton is donating the Acton Town Hall Centre for this performance.

One of Canada’s great jazz pianists, John Sherwood, will provide a sophisticated musical backdrop to the pre-and-post-show receptions, they add. This performance is part of the Nylons’ Farewell Tour.

“We are looking forward to the upcoming Farewell shows … we are going to make the most of it,” founding member Claude Morrison said. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

The CRC is raising funds to bring its case as a party objecting to the proposed quarry in Rockwood to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB).

The OMB Hearing begins on Sept. 27 and will be held in the Guelph Eramosa Township council chamber.

Tickets for the Nylon’s performance are $100 per person with a cash bar.

Tickets can be purchased at www.crcrockwood.org/Nylons or by calling Linda Sword at 519-853-1896 or emailing lsword@crcrockwood.org.
