Nominations open for Centre Wellington’s ‘Tree of the Year’

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Everyone loves trees, but do you love a certain tree more than the rest? You can nominate it for the Tree Trust Tree of the Year!

Any tree qualifies, but preference will be given to native species.

“The tree can be anywhere, any age, as long as it speaks to you,” says Toni Ellis, Executive Director of Tree Trust.

One winning tree will be given the “green carpet” treatment and will be honoured at a public celebration in August.

The tree will also be featured on the Tree Trust website and social media.

Various contestants will also be featured on the Tree Trust Instagram and Facebook pages throughout the summer.

Photo or drawings can be submitted with a short explanation in 50 words or less of why the tree deserves the honour. Children’s entries are welcome.

Be sure to include contact information and the tree’s location. Email your submission to cw@treetrust.ca, or mail it to the Elora Environment Centre, 75 Melville St, Elora N0B 1S0.

Entries must be received by July 15.

One entry will be drawn at random to win a $100 gift card to Magic Pebble Books in Elora.
