New security guard service hired for local hospitals

WELLINGTON COUNTY – North Wellington Health Care (NWHC) and Groves Memorial Community Hospital (GMCH) now have a new security guard service.

A contract was signed with Paladin Security, effective Oct. 15. Paladin serves more than 300 health care facilities in North America.

Based in the emergency departments, Paladin will provide security staff at each hospital, seven days a week, during late afternoon and overnight shifts.

“The safety and security of our patients, visitors, volunteers, staff and physicians is a priority to us,” said Stephen Street, president and CEO of NWHC and GMCH.

“The uniformed staff will patrol the interior and exterior of the buildings, assist with hospital emergency code response and general assistance to the staff.” He added NWHC and GMCH will continue to work with the OPP and fire departments “to ensure security and safety.”
