New lottery raises funds for hospitals

GUELPH – The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital is one of 21 hospital foundations across Ontario joining together for a first-of-its-kind online lottery, offering supporters more chances to win, and larger cash prizes.

Over $500,000 will go to 13 winners on Dec. 1.

It’s a 50/50 lottery, with half of ticket sale revenue divided the among the grand prize winners, and the remaining half divided between partner hospitals. (Players can choose which hospital benefits.)

“At Guelph General Hospital, patient care equipment must be funded by donations and through fundraising initiatives like Split the Pot Lottery,” hospital foundation spokesperson Elizabeth Stewart stated in a press release.

“We’re thrilled to see the incredible response since ticket sales launched in October,” she added.

Ticket bundles include 10 for $10, 40 for $20, 160 for $40 and features a best value pack of 400 tickets for $60.

Tickets can be purchased at splitthepot.ca until Nov. 30 at 11:59pm.
