New childcare facility to open in Arthur

A new child care facility is opening in Arthur.

The Wellington Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) has retrofitted the existing child care space adjacent to St. John Catholic School in Arthur with the support of Ministry of Education funding.

The new facility will be operated by the YMCA-YWCA of Guelph and is set to open May 1.

The site will accommodate 10 toddlers and 16 pre-school children.

“We are very excited to be offering this service in partnership with the YMCA-YWCA for all families within the town of Arthur and surrounding communities,” said WCDSB director of education Tamara Nugent.

“We know that child care is an important decision for families. St. John Arthur School is an ideal site for this learning and care program.”

Luisa Artuso, director of children’s early years division for Wellington County, said, “There is a need for child care in Wellington North as there is currently only full-time spaces available for five per cent of the birth to four- year population in this area.”
