Mustakas to play Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof

CAMBRIDGE – In a casting feat worthy of a matchmaker’s nod of approval, Drayton Entertainment has announced the return of artistic director Alex Mustakas to the stage as the central character Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof this holiday season.

The show is set to run at the Hamilton Family Theatre Cambridge from Nov. 29 to Dec. 24.

Following his last performance, in the 2018 production of Man of La Mancha, Mustakas will be trading in Don Quixote’s lance for a milk cart as he takes centre stage again as Fiddler on the Roof’s beloved patriarch.

“I’ve always had a bucket list of roles I wanted to play, and Tevye was right at the top,” says Mustakas.

“I’m excited to be back on stage and bringing this iconic theatrical figure to life.”

Mustakas has appeared in many other notable roles, including The Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance, Franklin Hart Jr. in 9 To 5: The Musical and Captain Hook in Peter Pan: The Panto.

He has directed over 100 productions for Drayton Entertainment and other theatre companies across Canada, including Rock of Ages, Million Dollar Quartet, the world premiere of Marathon of Hope, Spamalot and Les Misérables.

Fiddler on the Roof tells the story of Tevye, a humble Jewish milkman whose life has been governed by strict traditions that will never change … until he selects suitors for his daughters and discovers that the younger generation will create traditions of their own.

Featuring an unforgettable score of classic songs like Matchmaker, Matchmaker and If I Were A Rich Man, the show is one of the most acclaimed musicals in history.

Regular performance tickets are $55 for adults, $34 for youth under 20 years of age. Discounts for select dates and groups are available.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 519-621-8000, toll free at 1-855-drayton (372-9866), or online at draytonentertainment.com.
