Mount Forest BIA hosting inaugural ‘Kick Off to Summer Block Party’

MOUNT FOREST – Fun for the whole family, the Mount Forest Business Improvement Area (BIA) will be hosting its inaugural “Kick Off to Summer Block Party” on June 1.

The event will be taking place on King Street West in Mount Forest, primarily in the BMO and Legion parking lot, from 3 to 10pm.

“We’re starting off the event with a cornhole tournament,” said Kailyn Cudney, administrative coordinator at the Mount Forest BIA.

The cornhole tournament will involve having two players per team with a registration cost of $30 per team, and the funds will go towards current and future BIA events and initiatives. Those interested must register by May 24.

The event will continue throughout the evening with carnival games, food trucks and face painting.

“And then around 8:30pm, or whenever dusk happens, that’s when we’re going to start playing our outdoor movie,” Cudney explained, adding the movie will be the Disney Pixar film Elemental.

Live music will also be available throughout the day, presented by Exclusive Vibez Music out of Listowel.

This event is part of the BIA’s goal for 2024 to implement “a handful” of events that can be looked forward to each year, the last one being its Winter Family Fun Fest that took place in February.

Although things may evolve and change, Cudney said “we want it to be an annual thing.”

Cudney told the Community News the BIA is looking for people or businesses who are interested in sponsoring this event “in any capacity” or to volunteer. If interested in doing so, email mountforestbia@gmail.com.
