Moorefield woman seriously injured in two-vehicle crash

MAPLETON –  A Moorefield woman was one of two people injured in a serious two-vehicle crash here on Tuesday.

Emergency crews responded on Sept. 1 at about 7:20am to the collision on Wellington Road 86 at Wellington Road 10 in Mapleton.

Wellington County OPP officials say a minivan travelling southbound on Wellington Road 10 collided with a tractor trailer travelling westbound on Wellington Road 86.

Police say Wellington Road 10 is controlled by stop signs in both directions.

The driver of the minivan, a 66-year-old woman from Moorefield, was transported to a local hospital and later transferred to a London hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The transport truck driver, a 65-year-old man from  Woodstock, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision is currently being investigated by Wellington County OPP and OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI).

The Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of the Environment were also notified of the crash.
