Minto wants to grow small business with Pitch It

In an effort to grow small businesses in Minto and increase awareness of the resources available, the Town of Minto introduced the inaugural Pitch-It Minto business plan competition. The competition was launched at the regular council meeting on Aug. 16, and will commence Oct. 3.

The competition is a project of the Minto Downtown Revitalization Committees and is geared towards entrepreneurs that wish to open a new business venture, purchase an existing business, expand an existing business or re-locate an existing business in one of the downtowns within the Town of Minto (Clifford, Harriston or Palmerston).

Over $5,000 in cash and prizes are up for grabs for the winner of the competition.

“The Minto business community, as always has been very supportive of this initiative” said Business and Economic Manager Belinda Wick-Graham.

Prizes include $2,500 in start up capital, various advertising and marketing packages, business cards, mentorship and coaching, one year Minto Chamber of Commerce membership, internet service for six months and website development and hosting.

For anyone interested in entering the competition, details and application forms can be found online at www.mintoed.com or at the Town of Minto office located at 5941 Highway 89, Harriston.
