The town of Minto will apply for $7,171 from Wellington County to cover half the $14,342 the municipality spent on trail development in 2015.
Projects included new railing and decking, trail gates, a new trailhead sign, outdoor message boards, relocation of a water fountain, trees and tree planting.
The County of Wellington created a trail funding program in February of 2015 to provide a maximum of $350,000 over three years to encourage local municipalities to develop trails within their communities. With seven municipalities in Wellington, the Town of Minto is eligible to receive up to $50,000 through this program between now and Nov. 30, 2018.
Council passed a resolution to seek reimbursement under the program on Dec. 15.
