Ministry to conduct EA study on GTA west transportation corridor

Councillors here still have concerns whether a new proposed 400-series highway will impact Puslinch.

On Dec. 3 councillors looked at the proposal update briefly.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation is undertaking another stage of the Environmental Assessment (EA) study for a proposed GTA West Transportation Corridor.

Building on previous studies, this step would identify potential routes, interchanges and preliminary design for a new transportation corridor that would include a new 400-series highway.

Mayor Dennis Lever noted public information centres would provide an overview of the study and process, along with the current status of the project.

Lever said the corridor study came forward some years ago, but there were challenges with potential connections to Highway 401 in Halton Hills.

Lever said he hoped to attend one of the meetings.

Councillor Matthew Bulmer said if the mayor had the chance to attend it would be interesting to find out if previously proposed corridors through Wellington County were still being protected.

“That’s a good point,” Lever agreed, stating he would follow up and report back.
