Mediation service receives grant

Community Justice Initiatives (CJI) of Waterloo region has received an Ontario Trillium Foundation Seed grant of $73,600 over 12 months to pilot a new way of resolving conflict with a mediation program in Guelph called Mediation Guelph-Wellington.

Building inclusive and engaged communities together, this initiative is helping people who are isolated have connections in their community and has an impact on the lives of 400 people in the community.

Mediation Guelph-Wellington is modeled after CJI’s Mediation Services located in Waterloo Region. With the OTF grant, this service in Guelph-Wellington will help to make a difference in creating a stronger, more connected community, preventing violence and de-escalating conflict, and empowering people to resolve conflict together.

“I am very pleased that citizens in Guelph-Wellington will now have access to mediation services,” said Guelph MPP Liz Sandals.

CJI partners with local organizations and community members. Funds will be used to hire a coordinator, help with some administrative costs, train volunteers and purchase materials for the program.
