Man arrested in break-in

ERIN – Police have now charged a Caledon man in connection with a break-in here, during which two guns were stolen, among other items.

Wellington County OPP investigated a residential break-in  on Wellington Road 50 in Erin on March 13. Stolen property included a shotgun, handgun, jewelry, electronics and a coin collection. The home was equipped with a surveillance system which allowed police to later identify the male suspect.

On March 25, the Wellington and Caledon OPP officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Benadir Avenue in Caledon. Officers recovered a shotgun and coin collection, as well as banking documents from another jurisdiction.

Brandon Adrian Carey, 26, of Caledon, was charged with break and enter to commit an indictable offence, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime, failure to comply with an undertaking, and possession of property obtained by crime (under $5,000). He was held for a bail hearing.
