All local municipalities now have a final offer for provincial ice storm assistance in hand.
Ontario has now offered final payments to all municipalities and conservation authorities impacted by the December 2013 ice storm through the province’s Ice Storm Assistance Program, the province announced in a Dec. 18 press release.
In 2014, the province announced it would reimburse 100 per cent of eligible disaster response and recovery costs through the program. As part of the review process, Ontario worked with municipalities and conservation authorities on their claim submission, including clarifying and resolving questions about their submissions. The province is also providing opportunities for claimants to submit additional documentation before final payments are issued.
Local municipalities receiving final payment offers include: Centre Wellington, $297,543; Erin, $441,571; Guelph-Eramosa, $159,573; Mapleton, $23,009; Minto, $70,917 and Wellington North, $6,237. The Credit Valley Conservation authority received a $71,075 final offer and the Grand River Conservation Authority was offered $542,725.
“Our government has remained committed to providing assistance to those … that were severely impacted by the December 2013 ice storm,” stated Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Ted McMeekin.
“We will continue to stand with our cities, towns and citizens when they are in great need.”
