‘Sneaky cuts’ an insult

Dear Editor:

An open letter to Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott.

Well Ted, you and your government did it again! Thursday is always a big day in our house as my wife and I enjoy keeping up with local news in the Wellington Advertiser.

Patrick Raftis has an excellent article on your cuts for inter-library book loans (McCabe: Cut to Southern Ontario Library Service will impact Wellington, April 25). As old retired people with a bent toward reading, such book loans greatly expand reading opportunities. Perhaps even more important for students, the ability to get relevant books for assignments is greatly enhanced by inter-library loans. This hurts rural Ontario and small towns, not Doug Ford’s riding.

How many more things are you going to cut from the most vulnerable Ontario citizens: students and seniors? You never said you would do this during the campaign, and now your sneaky cuts are an insult to the citizens of the province and borders on theft of the former great legacy of Ontario.

What is next for you and Doug Ford to destroy in Ontario? Will you put seniors at risk with health care cuts. Will you precipitate another Walkerton through your cuts? I am gravely disappointed in you and your government.

Kudos to the Wellington Advertiser for exposing this latest attack on Ontario citizens.

Bill Mathison,

Belwood
