‘Racetrack’ problem

Dear Editor:

RE: Fergus intersection improvements agreed upon, Oct. 31.

I read your article on updates to the Beatty Line to accommodate “walkers” and pedestrian crossings. That’s nice. How about some attention given to our road now that it has turned into a race track?

With the new subdivision to the north of us and more houses coming to the west (Sorbara subdivision) travel has gone nuts here. It’s not safe to walk along this road and new people moving do not know which side of the road to walk on. (should be on the left facing traffic).

There’s not much shoulder room here and we notice it every morning and night walking our grandchildren to their bus stop.

I sent an email some time ago to our “area councillor” but never got a reply so heads up Centre Wellington council – we have a problem here.

Trucks are using this road as a bypass even though the signs are up for them to stay off. The OPP have patrolled and caught a few of them but cannot be here all the time.

I guess the Beatty Line is too rough for those truckers – it is breaking up. With the daycare at the end of the road also pushing strollers up and down this road, I am just hoping no one gets run over.

Glad Halloween was quiet.

Fergus
