‘Plein’ success

Dear Editor:

Thank you to all of the hardworking volunteers who made the Elora en Plein Air Festival May 16 to 19  a wonderful success.

Months of planning, collaboration and hard work went in to the festival.  The Elora Arts Council is so grateful to the gracious and fun team that greeted all the artists who came from far and wide to paint our beautiful township.

Our ambassadors showed all the painters the best and often hidden painting sites across Centre Wellington.

All your hard work paid off! Seventy artists came from across Ontario, Canada and the U.S.  Their feedback tells us that you all made them feel so welcome.

“The best Plein Air Festival I’ve been to,” said one seasoned plein air artist from New York. They loved the Fergus Quick Paint and all the friendly people they met wherever they were.

Thanks also to the people who came to the Sunday Afternoon Show and Sale. More than 480 people came and the place was hopping! The show was the work of 70 artists painting for three days outdoors throughout Centre Wellington. Elora, Fergus, the river, the rural countryside, gorges and bridges were all captured in stunning works; 61 pieces of art were sold, each a one-of-a-kind image of the place we call home.

This festival could not happen without our volunteers and this great community.  Thank you!

Barb Lee,

Chair, Elora Arts Council
