Minto has heroes too

Dear Editor:

RE: Council chamber packed to honour ‘Canada’s unsung heroes’, Dec. 27).

We would like to thank the Advertiser for your excellent coverage of the unsung heroes of Centre Wellington and Puslinch in your Dec. 27 edition.

However, we felt compelled to bring to your attention a couple of unsung heroes from the town of Minto.

For the last three years, Jean and David Anderson have sacrificed their personal Christmas Day celebrations in order to provide a wonderful meal and celebration for people from all walks of life from the surrounding community.

They have received incredible support from donations of food, gifts, money and people giving of their time and effort preparing and serving the meal.

This year there were 80 takeout deliveries made and well over 200 meals served at the Palmerston Community Centre on Christmas Day.

We are proud to say that we have participated in all three events and truly believe that sharing a meal and fellowship with your fellow man is the true spirit of Christmas. Think very seriously about participating next year; you will find it a most fulfilling experience.

Although we have no medals to present to Jean and David for spearheading this marvellous event, please be aware that in Minto, they are truly “unsung heroes” and we are extremely grateful for the effort from this wonderful couple.

 Krista and Terry Fisk,

Minto
