Loneliness is deadly

Dear Editor:

I speak out of concern for my great grandmother, and many others like her, who live in homes for the elderly.

Our elderly have been shut into their homes, they can no longer be with their loved ones when comfort is needed. Is this how we should treat them? They are sad and lonely with no one to comfort them.

Our elderly are dying of a disease that most of us don’t recognise. It is called loneliness, a disease we can cure by simply letting them join their family and friends. Please consider their emotional well-being.
