Keep plaques

Dear Editor:

RE: Ditch plaques, Jan. 24.

Historical home plaques need to be taken in historical context and not by today’s standards or issues.

During the era these historical homes were built, deeds generally stated the male name only. In some cases the occupation of the original owner is available to us as well.

These plaques teach us a little about our town’s past. Unfortunately, as Ontario’s small towns become bedroom towns for larger metropolitan areas, we lose this history.

Keep the plaques.
