At Canadian Blood Services, we are supporting patients’ ongoing needs for blood and blood products. We want to tell you about COVID-19 related changes that may affect your blood donation.
We have taken steps to comply with the Public Health Agency of Canada’s directive on physical distancing. We have added screening measures for the safety of donors and employees. We are shifting capacities in a manner that optimizes our collection network and abides by the latest scientific evidence. This may mean some changes to or cancellations of donor centres.
Locally, we regret to cancel our April 30 donor centre at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex in Fergus. However, we welcome Fergus donors to join us at the Guelph Donor Centre, 130 Silvercreek Parkway North. You can re-book your appointment by calling 1-888-2-DONATE, at blood.ca or through the GiveBlood app. Until further notice, all appointments must be scheduled in advance.
The need for blood will continue during this pandemic. We are in a marathon, not a sprint. We’re grateful for donors who are supporting Canada’s lifeline. We’re also thankful for the care and dedication of our employees.
