Dinner project success

Dear Editor:

The Centre Wellington District High School (CWDHS) Social Justice class would like to extend its thanks to our wonderfully generous community. With the guidance of our teacher, Ms. Ballantyne, we co-hosted the CW Community Dinner Project on Dec. 11 as a fundraiser for Kids Help Phone.

As young people, we know, more than most, that our community has been impacted by a number of suicides in the few years. CW has a suicide rate which is more than twice the national average. We also know that there are serious gaps in mental health services for us.

Supporting 24-hour services – like Kids Help Phone – ensures that young people have the opportunity to reach out, anytime, when they need some help. Our community came together that night – serving over 200 meals and raising almost $2,000 – because of the generous support of local individuals and businesses.

The Kids Help Phone motto is “We’re here for you”. We would like to thank-you, Centre Wellington community, for showing us that you are there for us too.

CWDHS Social Justice class,

Fergus
