International Women”™s Week in Guelph

International Women’s Week is taking place from March 5 to 11 and Guelph is holding a number of activities to celebrate.

March 5

The Indigenous Learning Circle is holding an event to remember missing and murdered indigenous women from 10:30 to 11:30am at Guelph city hall. All are welcome.

March 6

A women marketplace to support women entrepreneurs will be taking place from 1 to 4pm at 38 Elizabeth Street. Vendors will include arts  and crafts, handmade jewelry, Pampered Chef, intuitive readings and more

A donation of $2 or a personal care item is encouraged.

March 8

– Women’s Day 5K race will start at 10am at the J-Green. Register online at http://tinyurl.com/womensday5k

– Women on the Bridge, One Billion Rising, will take place at 12 noon at St. Georges Anglican Church 99 Woolwich Street. Participants are invited to Ccome on their own or as a group. They can Bring banners or dress in organization colours.

March 9

Women’s Health Alliance Forum will feature discussion on women and violence from 9am to 4pm at Innovation Guelph. Speakers will include: Linzy Bonham, Dr. Ruth Neustifter and Judah Oudshoorn. It costs $20 to register. Visit http://womenandviolecne.brownpapertickets.com/.

March 10

International Women’s Week Breakfast will be held from 7 to 9am at the Italian Canadian Club. Sharmila Setaram president of the board of directors for Amnesty International will be in attendance. Individual tickets are $25 and it is $200 for a table of 10. For tickets visit www.zontaguelph.ca.

March 11

Indigenous Wellness Conference will take place at Innovation Guelph from 9am to 4:30pm. Guests will include Mino Bimaadiziwin and aboriginal cultural teachings by Lois Macdonald, Kathy Absolon-King Hilton King and Mary Lou Smoke.
