Hanover Community Players upcoming shows

HANOVER – After seven shows, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music closed with sell-out audiences over its final weekend despite the weather, construction and washroom problems.

The Hanover Community Players (HCP), a non-profit charitable organization, thanks all of its patrons for their determination to attend a wonderful show.

The organization also wants to send a big thank you to the Civic Theatre maintenance staff who kept everything under control.

The talented cast of seniors, adults, youth and children wowed the audiences in attendance. Director Sam Los on sound,  stage manager Randy Corfield and band director Tim Eaton, with Karen Plaxton on lights, created the wonderful world of The Sound of Music.

Pat Brunner along with Ruth Los, worked months to create excellent costumes for the show.

Behind the scenes, many parents and other volunteers manned the backstage area, attended to make-up and hair, costume changes (which were many) and made sure people were ready to go on time.

The stage crew of three, along with some cast members, made the scene changes flow. Technology aided the production values as the band was hidden on stage to make more seating available in the house and appropriate slides helped to set the scenes.

There were too many people who were involved in this community production to mention by name but HCP officials want to thank each and every one for their commitment to the show.

“Grateful thanks are extended to the advertisers and sponsors who allowed HCP to produce such a great program for our local residents,” they stated.

The next show will be a winter show, Love, Loss and What I Wore, which opens Feb. 22 at 7:30pm in the Civic Theatre. Further shows include:

  • Feb. 23 at 2pm; and
  • Feb. 27 and 28 at 7:30pm with a 2pm matinee on March 1st.

This is a co-production with the Kincardine Theatre Guild.

A comedy, Bare Bear Bones opens on April 25 with the “mix and mingle”
prior to a 7:30pm show. The comedy show will run April 26, 27, May 3 and May 4 at 2pm.

Other 7:30pm shows are scheduled for May 1 and 2.

Auditions for the fall musical, School of Rock, will take place in early May.
