GWIN giving away $1,500 scholarship for female student

Guelph Women in Networking (GWIN) offers a yearly scholarship.

This year, the amount has been increased from $1,000 to $1,500 for one female college or university student.

GWIN believes in encouraging young women to excel in their chosen field of study.

Recipients are women who show academic excellence, responsibility and leadership, are involved in their local and scholastic community, and are working towards a career that will advocate, promote, or enhance the success of women.

For this year all qualified, interested women are encouraged to fill out/download a copy of the application form and to review all submission requirements online, by going to gwin.ca/scholarship.

Recipients must be:

– female;

– a full-time college or university student;

–  in a program of study that is over 30 weeks in duration;

– finished at least one year (two semesters) of a university or college program and continuing their studies; and

– a resident of Wellington County and/or a registered student at a college or university in the Wellington County area.

All submissions must be submitted online or by mail and be received by, or postmarked for, May 31.

The successful candidate will be notified by July 31 and will be contacted by phone in the first week of September to confirm details of her formal introduction to the GWIN membership which will be held during GWIN’s regular dinner meeting, the first Tuesday in October.

The successful candidate must be available to attend this meeting in order to be awarded the scholarship.

Guelph Women in Networking (GWIN) is an organization dedicated to promoting the success of women by providing education, fostering relationships and giving back to the community.

GWIN has regular meetings, September through to June, on the first Tuesday evening of the month at Springfield Golf and Country Club.

The meetings begin at 5:30pm with registration and networking, then buffet dinner at 6:30pm and guest speaker at 7:30pm with the evening adjourning at 9pm.

Tickets for members are $30 and guests are $40 (including dinner). Register in advance at www.gwin.ca.
