Guelph Wish Fund for Children celebrates 40 years with gala

GUELPH – The Guelph Wish Fund for Children recently announced its upcoming 40th anniversary gala, set to take place on April 13.

The event will feature a dinner, entertainment, a live auction, awards ceremony and an opportunity to dance the night away.

“We’re just wanting to celebrate all of our success over the last 40 years,” said interim executive director Jessica Hill.

The Guelph Wish Fund has granted 450 wishes to children under the age of 19 in Guelph and Wellington County since being founded in 1984. It grants wishes for kids living with a significant illness, a life altering injury or rare and debilitating illnesses.

“Then they receive a wish and we help them with whatever it is to make their lives happier,” said Hill.

“And we support the family and child, whether it’s paying for a trip, medical expenses or a bedroom makeover.”

She added that along with the wishes already granted, the gala is “a beautiful reminder of the impact that organizations have on children’s families in our community.”

The gala begins at 5:30pm, with dinner starting at 6:30pm. It will wrap up around 1am. Tickets are $175.

The theme for the gala is ruby in honour of the 40th anniversary.

“We have that colour theme going with silver and it’s going to be a big splashy event,” Hill explained.

There are several ways to contribute to the gala:

– purchasing tickets;

– making a donation; or

– volunteering.
