Guelph-Eramosa council briefs

Guelph-Eramosa council unanimously made various decisions that will impact the community at its Dec. 15 meeting.

No parking zone

There will be a no parking zone on MacLennan Street between Wheeler Court and May Street in Rockwood.

Officials said the stretch of road outside Ecole Harris Mill Public School was hazardous for pedestrians.

“That particular stretch of curb is most dangerous, especially for the buses,” said Mayor Chris White. “I’ve spoken to bus drivers and everybody and I think this is absolutely the right thing to do.”

Stop signs

Council passed a bylaw to update the list of stop signs covered by the municipality. This will add four existing stop signs to its appendix and will add five new stop signs that will be put up in subdivisions.

Winter road maintenance

Council agreed there would be an exchange of services between the county and the township for winter maintenance service. In previous years Guelph-Eramosa has provided winter maintenance on Wellington Road 49 from Wellington Road 124 through Everton to the south limit of 49 where it becomes the 7th Line and the county has been charged for this service.

The township will no longer charge for this  and in exchange the county will provide maintenance for Township Road 3.
