Guelph.Beer donates to Link Up to support BIPOC diversity in the beer industry

GUELPH – Guelph’s local breweries are proud to announce a donation that will help support diversity in the beer industry.

Over the past two years, the Guelph.Beer Bus has been accepting donations for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) students with the goal of helping create a more diverse beer industry.

The Guelph.Beer organization which includes Royal City, Fixed Gear, Brothers, Sleeman, Wrinkly Bear, and Wellington made a donation of $2,841 to Link Up.

The funds will be used to support BIPOC individuals in obtaining certifications including Cicerone®.

In addition to this donation total, BSG (Brewers Supply Group) made a $1,000 donation to the program through their ‘Rahr Gives’ initiative.

Link Up provides BIPOC individuals with both financial aid and support in obtaining certifications to help applicants elevate their craft beer journey and further their career prospects in the beer industry.

“It has always been the vision of the Link Up organization to place BIPOC individuals on a track to key roles within breweries, whether that be in brewing, leadership or ownership,” says Tiffany Davey, one of Link Up’s Co-Founders.

“We’re grateful for the incredible work that Link Up is doing and we are excited to be able to support them in helping make the beer industry a more diverse and welcoming place for people of colour,” says Wellington Brewery marketing director Brad McInerney.

The Guelph.Beer Bus will return in April and will continue to raise funds for the Link Up.
