GRCA seeks heroes of watershed

Watershed heroes are the individuals, families, groups and businesses who put time and energy into improving the Grand River watershed.

Many do it without recognition, satisfied with the legacy they leave for future generations. The Grand River Conservation Authority thinks they deserve to be acknowledged and is looking for nominations for its annual Watershed Awards.

There are the two categories:

– Honour Roll Awards – presented for a sustained record of environmental achievement over an extended period of time; and

– Watershed Awards for outstanding examples of environmental work.

Nominations can come from anyone in the watershed. The deadline for nominations is May 1. More information on the program, including short biographies of past winners and a nomination form, can be found at www.grandriver.ca/awards.

The winners will be honoured at a special event in October.
