Golf tournament raises $26,500 for EWCS programs

It was touch and go with the weather on July 15 as 130 golfers headed out on the Guelph Lakes Golf and Country Club in support of the 12th Annual EWCS golf tournament.

At the end of a day filled with fun, an entertaining live auction, competitive bidding at the silent auction table and friendly competition on the course with the contest holes and putting contest and the golfers having used many of their mulligan’s and clamoring for their chance to win a 52” plasma screen television through the Lucky Squares draw….the tournament was a huge success that raised an incredible $26,500 for East Wellington Community Services.

Golfers enjoyed a catered barbecue lunch and steak dinner where the bidding became fierce in the live auction.

It was a great day of fun.

that capped off a great day of community spirit and support for EWCS.

“This event means so much to our agency – the impacts of the funds raised today are far reaching for many in our community,” said Kari Simpson, executive director for East Wellington Community Services.

“For instance, for every $25 raised, this will allow a frail elderly senior transportation to a much needed medical appointment within Erin, Hillsburgh and Rockwood. $125 – the amount each golfer here paid to participate in today’s golf tournament – will provide two round trips to Toronto for a person requiring specialized treatments such as chemotherapy for a cancer patient. Truly, the funds raised today does make a difference in the lives of those in our community. We couldn’t achieve this without you – thank you very, very much.”

Organizers offered special thanks are extended to the many sponsors of the day, including Chantler’s Environmental Services, Allan Alls and Liz Crighton Re/Max Real Estate Centre Erin, Graham Animal Hospital, the more than 65 hole sponsors and special contest sponsors Eden House Care Facility, BDO Chartered Accountants, S.A.M.S. Service Centre Ltd., Hillsburgh Foodland, Headwaters Financial Group, Ontario Fire and Safety, Colony Ford Lincoln and to the many golfers, their guests, and the many other businesses, organizations and volunteers who contributed to the success of this event.
