Golf event to raise cash for local park

The sixth annual Minto Charity Golf Classic, of the Palmerston Lions Club is scheduled for June 25 here.

This year’s tournament will raise funds for the new splash pad being installed in the Lions Heritage Park in Palmerston. The tournament format is a four person scramble with a 1pm shotgun start.

Entry is $100 per person and includes golf, cart, steak dinner, and prizes. There will be three closest-to-the-pin hol­es, with prizes ranging from a lawn tractor (sponsored by North Wellington Coop)  to a Ford prize package courtesy of Leslie Motors.

The construction of the splash pad is set to begin in mid June with completion by July 1. Plans are underway to have a grand opening on July 5, with a free hot dog barbecue and other activities.
