Four pickup trucks stolen from Fergus homes on weekend

FERGUS – Local police are asking vehicle and home owners to take precautions after the theft of four pickup trucks in Fergus over the weekend.

Wellington County OPP officials say the trucks, all 2021 or 2022 Dodge Ram 1500s, were stolen from homes on Aug. 28 between 4 and 5am.

The thefts took place on McFarlane Crescent, Garafraxa Street East and Revell Drive.

“A person of interest was seen in the area and is described as thin build wearing all black with a reddish hat/toque,” police stated in an Aug. 28 press release.

The stolen vehicles, which police say were all locked and the keys accounted for, are described as follows:

  • grey 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport, licence plate BN88315;
  • silver 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn, licence plate BL82705;
  • silver 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport, licence plate BB83541; and
  • black 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport, licence plate AN96683.

“The Wellington County OPP would like to remind everyone that if your vehicle uses a proximity key then you need to take extra steps to protect your vehicle such as parking the vehicle in a garage, storing the key in a protective pouch or as far away from the exterior of your residence as possible,” police stated in the press release.
