Focus on Nature garden party celebrates student work

GUELPH – Focus on Nature’s 7th annual Garden Party, a highlight of Guelph’s summer social calendar, will be held in the beautiful gardens of Ker Cavan, home of Martin Bosch and Nancy Sullivan, at 22 Stuart St., on Sept. 16 from 1 to 4 pm.

The Garden Party will feature a new photo exhibit by young photographers, music by talented performers, tasty treats and refreshments, and lots of great prizes on the silent auction tables and ticket draws.

The event is free and open to the public, thanks to corporate sponsors TD Bank, Guelph Toyota, Knar Jewellery, RLB LLP, SV Law, Richardson Wealth, Bensol Consulting, and the Co-operators.

No tickets to purchase but donations to support this charity will be gratefully accepted.

Guests are asked to register in advance at eventbrite.com

The garden party offers a chance to learn more about Focus on Nature’s innovative school program that connects kids to nature through photography.

Their school workshops and camps have grown rapidly in southern Ontario and are now offered in Hamilton and the Niagara Region, the Waterloo and Halton Regions, Dufferin and Peel Regions, as well as Guelph and Wellington County.

Over 39,000 children have participated since social worker Shirley Hunt and photographer Trina Koster founded the organization in 2008.

Focus on Nature is a registered charity that inspires young people to explore and connect with their local environment through nature photography.

At school workshops and day camps as well as through photography exhibits, they give children of all abilities and backgrounds a renewed awareness of their own creative potential while exploring the natural world around them.
