First spring Rural Romp running this Saturday

Guelph Wellington Local Food is offering its first spring Wellington Rural Romp on May 28.

The themes for the Romp are gardening, the first produce of spring, and baby farm animals.

Approximately 20 farms and markets in Wellington County will open their doors for self guided tours. Experience agricultural education, guided tours, and children’s activities.

It runs 11am to 4pm. For farm locations, download the map at http://www.guelphwellingtonlocalfood.ca

Frolic with baby animals, learn more about local Community Shared Agriculture, buy heirloom tomato seedlings or browse selections of herbs, fruits, shrubs and vegetable plants.

Learn how to grow produce, and more.

A one time $5 donation per vehicle for the day will be greatly appreciated. A birdhouse donation box will be located at every Rural Romp location with maps available to locate farms that are open for tours.

The fifth annual fall Wellington Rural Romp occurs on Sept. 24.
